Since lock-down has been lifted, Cassandra wrapped on series 3 of Babycow’s BBC 3 PLS LIKE. The mockumentary series spoofing YouTube influencer’s, is to return for a third series. The comedy, which launched on BBC Three in 2017, was last broadcast in 2018, when the second series was shown on BBC iPlayer. The second series which is written by Williams and directed by Tom Kingsley, was nominated for a BAFTA in 2018 and won at the Broadcast Digital Awards in the same year.
The format stars comedian Liam Williams, as a fictional version of himself. He’s tasked with finding out more about the world of YouTube stars. Other actors involved in the show include Emma Sidi and Jon Pointing as video bloggers Millipede and Charlie, and Tim Key as talent agent James Wirm. Series 3 directed by Simon Bird.
And now Cassandra has started shooting a new series Starstruck with Avalon Motion Pictures. A brand new six-part comedy written, created by and starring 2018 Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Rose Matafeo, has been commissioned by BBC Three and HBO Max in the USA and is an Avalon Television production.
The 6 x 30 series will follow twenty-something Rose (Rose Matafeo), a millennial in London juggling two dead-end jobs and navigating the awkward morning-after-the-night-before when she discovers the complications of accidentally sleeping with a film star. As well as being broadcast on BBC Three in the UK, HBO Max will be the broadcast partner for the series in the USA.
Rose Matafeo is a comedian and actress who won Best Comedy Show at the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Awards 2018 for her solo show Horndog which has enjoyed sell-out performances around the world including at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival and a Barry Award nominated run at the Melbourne Comedy Festival.
