We would like to welcome our first FUTURES attendee’s Camera Trainee’s Elizabeth Gbejuade and Samara Addai, plus 2nd AC ‘s Teresa Adamson and Mahalia John. The second wave of FUTURES which will be activated later this year, will be for black women working in on set Production Sound.

Teresa is a 2nd AC / Clapper Loader, with 4 years experience in the camera department with a great start thanks to Skillset Trainee Finder. Teresa’s latest credits as 2nd AC are Brassic series 2, St Maud’s and Licence to Clean Pilot. Teresa has worked with DP’s such as Sarah Bartles-Smith, Rina Yang and Ed Rutherford. She has aspirations to be a DP one day too. Teresa is based in Manchester and London.

Mahalia John is a London-based Central Loader/2nd AC working in Features and Commercials. Her recent credits include ‘No Time To Die’, ‘Cinderella’ and various Commercials.
Mahalia’s specialty  is loading film, from 16mm to IMAX, and she’s is currently focusing on Central Loading with aspirations to one day become a Camera Operator. She owes her start in film to the NFTS BFI Film Academy which set her on the path to the Camera Dept.
Elizabeth is a camera trainee who has some impressive experience as a trainee under her belt such as Netflix’s ‘Cursed’ and Working Title’s ‘UNPX’. Elizabeth has aspirations to one day be a drama Cinematographer, for now she is focusing on clocking up as much experience as she possibly can as a camera trainee.
Samara has over 6 years of experience as a videographer with DSLR formats. Since Aug 2020 she has been training with cine cameras in film and TV to work her way up to becoming a DP. Samara has trainee credits in BBC and Netflix shows as well as a variety of music videos. She is keen to work with BIPOC, female, LGBTQI+ and disabled DP’s, as it is her passion to champion, support and learn from those that are underrepresented in the industry.

One of the first opportunities that came from the Futures Program; was a placement for Samara as trainee with Cinematographer Stuart Bentley BSC on drama I AM, he was very proactive and supportive:

‘Samara was an amazing addition to our camera team – positive, hard working and really enthusiastic – she was a pleasure to have around and all of the crew loved working with her.
RA Agency were also fantastic – working with them was incredibly smooth and straightforward – I wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again.
