RA’S CINEMATOGRAPHER & CAMERA OPERATOR, SALLY LOW, WORKED ON NUMEROUS PRODUCTIONS LAST YEAR

Among Sally Low’s recent productions is ‘The Show Trial’, in which class tension, sex and politics are laid on thick in a five-part series about a high-profile court case.

Created by Ben Richards, Directed by Zara Hayes and starring Tracy Ifeachor and Céline Buckens, the five-part series commenced on BBC One in October 2021. Sally shot dailies as 2nd Unit DP and ‘C’  Camera Operator-Main Unit alongside DP Matt Gray BSC.

Another recent production was ‘A Spy Among Friends’, based on the New York Times best-selling book written by Ben Macintyre. The six-part Cold War-set series sees Damian Lewis play Nicholas Elliott, who works as an  intelligence officer for MI6 and is left in turmoil when,  in 1963, his close friend and colleague Kim Philby, played by Guy Pearce, decides to defect to Russia after secretly working as a double agent for the KGB. Sally shot B camera dailies for DP Nanu Segal. It’s too early for a trailer for A Spy Among Friends. We might see it in the summer.

‘The Phantom of the Open’ is the story about Maurice Flitcroft, a dreamer and unrelenting optimist, who managed to gain entry to The British Open Golf Championship Qualifying in 1976 and subsequently shot the worst round in Open history, becoming a folk hero in the process. Mark Rylance, Sally Hawkins, Rhys Ifans, Jake Davies, Christian Lees, Jonah Lees, Mark Lewis Jones and Johann Myers star in the film, which is directed by Craig Roberts. Sally was 2nd unit DP and shot B Camera Dailies on the Main Unit with DP Kit Fraser. Produced by Baby Cow  roductions and Water And Power Productions, the Phantom of the Open is due to be released on the 15th of April 2022 in the UK.

Sally is currently operating on dailies with DP Polly Morgan in South Africa on ‘The Woman King’, an upcoming American historical epic film directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood from a screenplay co-written with Dana Stevens. It stars Viola Davis, Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, John Boyega, Adrienne Warren, Sheila Atim, Jayme Lawson, and Hero Fiennes Tiffin. The film is scheduled to be theatrically released by Sony Pictures Releasing on September 16th 2022.
