Mary Mullan, a proficient filmmaker, honed her craft at the prestigious National Film School in Ireland (IADT), specializing in Direction. Her artistic prowess shows through in her Directorial endeavors, evidenced by her award-winning short films showcased at esteemed festivals globally. Notable among these is the critically acclaimed “Tongue,” recipient of the coveted Fuji UK Scholarship Award, a project she both Directed and penned. Additionally, her contributions to the cinematic landscape include the Irish Film Board (Screen Ireland) / RTE production “Homeboy” which captivated audiences on RTE 1. Her final film ”Jack” made at IADT was also screened on RTE.
Continuing her pursuit of excellence, Mary pursued further education, earning Master’s Degrees in computer animation, and screenwriting at the industry renowned London College of Communication.
With over a decade of experience in visual effects, she seamlessly blends technical proficiency with artistic vision. Mary’s dedication to her craft is evident in her multifaceted career, balancing VFX compositing on prominent projects such as “The French Dispatch,” “The Book of Boba Fett,” and “John Wick 4” while simultaneously producing and directing her own compelling works, such as the one-hour feature film “The Bench” and the timely “covid comedy” “Isodate.”
Mary’s commitment to her craft extends beyond her creative endeavors; she is an active member of esteemed industry organizations including Bafta Connect, Cinesisters, and BECTU (Animation & Visual Effects Branch), embodying a collaborative spirit and a dedication to
advancing the art of filmmaking.
